H. 'Chicago Ruby' has two lovely blooms open today. This shot is a little closer to an accurate shade, since we've been treated to a nice lightly overcast day. And a fairly nice shot of H. 'Mauna Loa'. Another one of those "catch me if you can" colors for photographing, but this one turned out pretty accurate. H. 'Fooled Me', winner of the 2005 Stout Medal, bloomed for me today. It's a plant I just purchased from the HADS auction this spring, so blooms are a bonus, and that's impressive. Well, the new bed is dug, a triangular raised bed on the other side of the driveway. I'm raising the soil about 8 inches to improve drainage, and though the soil in the bed is loosened and the sides are up, I haven't filled with new soil yet. That's coming some time this week. Washington Park is a city park in Albany, NY, right off Madison Avenue. It's about three or four blocks from my daughter's school. On days when she only has a couple hours of classes, I'll stay right on campus and wait for her. If the weather's good, and she has enough time, we take our lunches to the park. The pretty building with the red tile roof is an art gallery.

This is Highpoint Road ... for a reason, as you can see. If you head down that hill you're heading toward home. This section of the hill is part of the Partridge Run State Wildlife Conservation Area.

"Guardians of the Frozen Stream" -- this is in the township of Berne. It's a field across from a shed/field where some beef cows are kept, and a stream runs under a bridge. I'm standing on the bridge. It was about ten below this day ... my poor little fingers frozed.
